Hand of Fate has tight and responsive combat alongside a heavy reliance on RNG and rouge-like elements which can lead to a tiring experience especially in the later game. Games are won when the players reaches the end of a level and defeats a boss, earning new cards for future games. Players must win against enemies in short and sweet combat sections, duelling it out in a fairly standard third-person hack and slash style. This can lead to bonuses, combat sections or random chances. The dealer then randomly selects a card, offering the player a choice or random pick. Each game begins with a card selection with players choosing from equipment and encounter cards. ![]() He challenges you to a game of life and death. Hand of Fate takes familiar elements from collectible card games, action RPGs, and choose-your-own adventure games and jumbles them all together to create an experience that generally feels unique. Choose a deck of cards and then battle against a dealer, jumping into short real time action battles between draws. Combat may not have improved much, but everything else has, making for a deeper journey even if luck. Upgraded presentation aside, there’s more of a story to back up the game, so you’re given a purpose instead of playing The Dealer’s game just for the sake of it.
